Chapter 30

“I hope you appreciate what I’m doing for you, Easy.”

Riding an elephant was like nothing I’d ever done before, and I wasn’t sure how often I’d want to do it. The ground was a long way down, and I made a point of keeping my eyes on the horizon. Experienced riders sat in front of us, and on occasion, when the elephants broke into a faster gait, we’d have to grab them around the waist to keep from sliding off.

Zelle dropped back to walk her elephant beside the one I was on. A jerk of her head, and the hunter who rode with me hopped onto her elephant, and she leaped onto mine.

“Show off,” I muttered.
