I stared back at them. “What?”
“Well, Micah, I mean—”
“No, Nathaniel,” Nash cut him off. “We’re not meddling. Meddling murders friendships.” He raised his chin and cocked an eyebrow. “You do what you need to do.”
“But you don’t think it’s a good idea.” I longed for his approval. “Why?”
Nash’s eyes warmed up and he jumped to his feet, reaching for my hands. “Never mind me, okay? I know you’re crazy about him and I know that he loves you. I just don’t ever wanna see you in the state you were in that night you showed up here.”
I pulled him into my arms and hugged him tight. “But maybe you will,” I whispered close to his ear. “That’s the risk I’m willing to take.”
“And you know I’ll be here if it falls apart.”
“Hey, what about me?” Nathaniel said, laughing.
“You, wait your turn,” Nash teased his boyfriend, releasing me. “Go. Get out, so Nathaniel and I can finally have very loud sex in my place again.”
