“I guess you’re right,” Noel agrees.
“So would you like to come with me?” Wyatt offers.
“Promise not to kill me?” Noel says it like he’s only half joking.
“I promise.” Wyatt means it. He has no plans to start killing, and even if he did, he wouldn’t start by taking an innocent life.
“Okay. This might be the stupidest thing I have ever done, but okay.” Noel sounds a little nervous, which is smart. But he’s brave, brave enough to trust his gut.
“Follow me,” Wyatt instructs, and he starts walking.
After a few seconds he realizes that Noel is having trouble keeping up with him, so he slows his pace a little.
“Walking is hurting you?” Wyatt asks.
“I think I hurt my knee when I was knocked to the ground. It’s not too bad. But, yeah, it hurts a little to walk,” Noel says honestly.
“Do you need help walking?” Wyatt offers.
“I…no…maybe.” Noel is clearly conflicted.
“Not used to accepting help?” Wyatt guesses.
