Tony put a hand on Brandon’s arm. “Don’t look, man,” he murmured into his ear. “Just…try to forget he’s there or something, I don’t know.”

How was Brandon supposed to forget that Adrian was there? “Yeah. Yeah, okay.”

He nodded and turned away, trying to focus on the latest dart game.

Greg came back over after about ten minutes, carrying a couple of beers. “Sorry about that. Anyway. Let’s play another round, huh?”

Brandon tried. He truly put in the effort. Nothing he did could make him forget that Adrian was in the bar. Every time he took his eyes away from the dartboard, it seemed like Adrian just happened to be right there, on the periphery of his vision. He couldn’t look away. Now Clay was stepping aside to chat with him. Then he was off to another side, standing in a gaggle of fresh-faced young men in pastel polo shirts. (Really, Adrian? Pastels?) Here he was dancing with a guy in a white cotton V-neck, and when had Pendragon’s turned into a dance bar?
