“It was the first time that I’d ever been really endangered by homophobia. I mean, directly,” Brandon murmured.

“I remember. You didn’t let that stop you from taking that guy down with a chair, though.” Greg chuckled and ducked his head.

“I saw it on pro wrestling,” Brandon had to confess, taking a sip of his drink. “I figured it had to work.”

“The thing is, you were never…You always knew exactly who you were and you grew up in a very safe place. Right?” Greg turned his attention back to the street.

“Right.” Brandon shrugged. “I was lucky. I wasn’t the only one in my school who wasn’t straight. The LGBA was an established student org.”

“So in a lot of ways, you got to grow and develop, emotionally and socially, in very healthy ways.” He touched his scar again.

“Well, yeah. I guess. I’d say. I’ve got my hang-ups, but who doesn’t?” Brandon frowned
