Years ago, Daniel fell in love with his best friend, only to be left devastated when that friend abruptly left, never to be seen again. Solstice Dance

“I’ll be right over. Daniel, you should join us, seeing as Hailey isn’t here, and you and the boys can catch up. Michael, look at Daniel, almost as tall as you, and he’s working as a veterinary nurse. You remember how good he was with animals?” Claire says brightly, and why wouldn’t she? As far as she knows, they were teenage best friends, grew up together and nothing more.


“Hey, Danny, you look good. You should eat with us. Is your mom okay?” Michael sounds so casual and is using his nickname for Daniel, like the last time he said it hadn’t been after telling Daniel he was leaving just after they’d finished having sex one afternoon. Michael had known about the move for a long time, before their relationship turned sexual, but he hadn’t told Daniel till days before he left, asked his parents not to say anything till he told his friends.
