Another carving caught his eye. It didn’t look like initials, and in fact carved through several. This one looked like a symbol, all lines and circles. Cameron took a picture of it with his phone. He didn’t know what the symbol was, but it had been carved later than all of the initials and given everything that seemed to be going on at the property he didn’t want to discount it.
Cameron lowered himself to the ground. He’d done something, on his own. He hadn’t been reactive; he hadn’t been some damsel-in-distress who needed to be rescued. He’d done some research and some exploration for himself. It might not amount to anything relevant, but at least he’d made the effort.
He saw Jason stalking across the lawn from the back door. Jason’s face was set in an angry scowl and his eyes were ablaze with fury. Cameron sighed. He had no idea what he’d done to piss Jason off, but obviously it was significant.
