He’d needed a blood transfusion, which wasn’t a surprise to him. He’d bled a lot. While he was probably going to be feeling weak for a while yet, and he’d be in a world of hurt as the narcotics wore off, he’d make a full recovery. Unless something surprising happened in between now and the next morning, there wasn’t any reason that he shouldn’t be able to leave tomorrow.

They removed the catheter, a procedure for which Jason happily left the room, and brought him broth for lunch. He kept it down, and detectives showed up not long after that.

“Did you see the person who attacked you?” The detective’s tone was bored, but he looked past Cameron and directly at Jason. He thought he’d already solved the case.
