“Yes, she’s always in the restaurant with him. I thought she was his girlfriend but he says he’s happily single.”

“Well, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a girlfriend. Maybe she’s a “what I don’t know won’t hurt me” type. A lot of women don’t want to know what their men do. And vice versa.”

“She seemed too savvy to be that type. She knew too much about what was going on with the police. Maybe there’s something there. I may try to find out.”

“Now, will that be on a professional level or on a more personal one?” Maggie mused.

“You never can tell,” Cam answered, feeling her face heating up.

“Ah, my dear, I hope you’re not this transparent with everyone.” Maggie chuckled softly and looked at Cam warily.

“I hope so, too. But then, not many people read me like you do.”

“That’s a real blessing, isn’t it?” Maggie seemed to be enjoying this.

“If you hadn’t kicked me out, we wouldn’t be in this mess now, would we?”
