Chapter 32

Michael pushed him away again.

“You’re not going to make this easy, are you?” He was trying not to lose his patience. He picked her up and stood her on her feet. At first he smiled. How long had it been since he really looked at his younger sister. At his 6’3,” she was almost as tall as he.

“Leave me alone.” She growled as she lurched toward the dock which thrust out into the lake. “Laissez-moi seul!”

Jean-Rene watched her for a moment, then sprinted back to tell his wife what had happened. “You’d better put a pot of coffee to boil,” he suggested. “She’ll need it, if I don’t knock her out before that.” He knew his sister could be very stubborn. But he didn’t want this to escalate around his children. He had to decide how to handle this.

When he came back around the house, Michael was kneeling by the water’s edge, trying to bring water in her cupped hand up to her face.

“Not doing a very good job at that,” he said to her.
