Chapter 4

Evan shook his head to banish his melancholy thoughts. “Don’t stress yourself out this early in the semester. I can tutor you if you need the extra help. I took his class when I was a freshman, but I can’t imagine the curriculum has changed much.”

Lucas hunched over and rested his forearms on his thighs, staring at the ground. “Sorry. I left one stressful situation to find myself in another. All I need to do is readjust my expectations, and I’ll be fine.” His weak smile left no doubt in Evan’s mind that Lucas didn’t believe his statement any more than Evan did.

Rubbing Lucas’s back soothingly, Evan suggested, “Why don’t we focus on your other classes for today, and we can revisit The Class That Shall Not Be Namedanother time. We couldn’t have picked better weather for a stroll around campus.”

Lucas lifted his head and gave Evan a grateful smile. “Yeah, you’re right. Let’s move on.”

Following Lucas’s lead, Evan gathered his belongings and commenced his tour.
