It had been the roughest two years of his life. He and Keith and been friends since birth. The two boys were inseparable, and Lucas ended up working in Keith’s family’s restaurant after school and on the weekends during high school.


They both dated other people; Keith exclusively guys, and Lucas girls. There was always a simmering attraction between the two, but Lucas never acted on it. Mostly because he didn’t want to lose his best friend.


After high school, the two parted when Keith went off to university and Lucas stayed working at the restaurant. Keith’s parents treated Lucas like another son, and he felt comfortable learning the back end of the restaurant business with Keith’s dad as the teacher.


One weekend home from university, Keith confessed his feelings for Lucas. Lucas reciprocated the declaration and they forged a long-distance relationship. Once Keith earned his degree, he moved back home to take over the restaurant with Lucas.
