“I’m sorry,” Shay said, “But I don’t remember…”
Just then Lilly ran up to the group. “Dwayne! Oh, Dwayne, I’m so glad you came.” She hugged him.
Shay looked at them in astonishment. This handsome man couldn’t be the same Dwayne Shay had known in high school. That Dwayne was short and pudgy. Adorable…cute…yes, but not…not like this. This man was stout, but muscular—more of an athlete than a drama professor.
Lilly and Dwayne broke apart.
“D…Dwayne?” Shay stammered.
“Hello, Shay. It’s good to see you again.”
“My God, Dwayne!” Shay said and without thinking, threw his arms around the man.
After hugging him for a long time, Shay noticed Randy and Stewart out of the corner of his eye. They were staring at the two men, looking as astonished as Shay felt. Shay became self-conscious and stepped back.
Thankfully, Lilly broke the awkward moment by saying, “Oh this is wonderful—the three of us together again.” She stepped in and pulled Dwayne and Shay into another hug.
