All in all, it took three days to get to Harrisburg. The meeting place was a dark motel parking lot on the outskirts of the city. It felt more like a drug deal than a pre-battle pep talk.

And it didn’t help that Eleanor looked like a complete stranger. Gone was the familiar and lively cowgirl garb. Instead, she wore plain, mismatched black cotton and sneakers. Her hair was slicked back instead of curly, and the highlights had disappeared. Her tired eyes were bloodshot and swollen. It looked like she hadn’t slept in days or taken proper care of herself in weeks, and when she spoke, her voice was hoarse. “Took you long enough to get here,” she scolded, eyeing the two of them with frustration.
