With his whole body shaking, he selected a large kitchen knife, walked into the bathroom, and locked himself inside. He ran the shower but didn’t get in. Even if someone tried to interrupt him, they might just think Dakota was hiding here, trying to wash the shame off of him.

Staring at himself in the mirror, he broke down and began sobbing. He felt so pitiful, so incredibly hopeless. Did anyone even really want him around? Except Kenna. And she only did because she had no one else. Hope had taken them in purely out of guilt and obligation. Dillon was nice because he needed to be. But everyone knew he wasn’t worth anything. He was doing them a favor by taking himself out of the equation. He was releasing them from their responsibilities to a useless human being.
