Chapter 20

“She’s got a thing for you.”

“What are you on about?”

“Come on, Deepan. You’re not stupid. She clearly fancies you.”

Deepan rolled his eyes.

“Don’t be daft. She needed a roommate after her last one bailed on her and I needed somewhere to live. That’s it.” He hopped over the back of the couch and landed on the cushions. “I’ve only known her for six months.”

“That’s all it takes sometimes.”

Deepan scowled.

“Don’t start, Karl. Not after last night.”

Karl hadn’t forgotten. Hearing Kenneth go on about what he could do to teach a gay man like Deepan a lesson was still fresh in his mind. It had been a great temptation to disinfect the car with Kenneth still in it.

From the slight trembling of his hands, Deepan was still affected by it. Karl sat beside him.

“You can still press charges. It’s not too late…”

“It’s not that I want to talk to you about.” Deepan swallowed. “That I can handle.”

“Are you sure about that?”
