Chapter 3

“Is there anything I can help you with, sir?” I asked in my most professional voice.

“No, I’m just looking,” Javi responded as he turned to look at me. “Oh hey, Danny,” he said with excitement. “I didn’t know you worked here.”

Of course he didn’t, because I was always too tongue-tied to tell him anything. It was his fault, walking around in his underwear like that.

“Yup, been here for about a year now. So, what brings you by?”

“I was walking around and thought I would check it out. I love history and anthropology and was curious to see what was in here.”

“Well, we have another group forming in a few minutes. If you want, you can come with us.” I wondered where that sudden burst of courage came from. The last thing I wanted was to mess up in front of Javi, but the words escaped from my mouth before my brain had a chance to process them.
