“Well, it’s about time,” Patrick stated. Damn, right answer, wrong person.
“I’m on my way,” Javi said loudly. I think he was hoping Patrick would hear him.
“Was that Javi?” Patrick asked.
I nodded. Darn it mouth, why aren’t you working, I thought.
Patrick took a deep breath before he spoke. “Okay, well, since he doesn’t have a car and it’s a twenty minute drive, then I think I have some time to get this off my chest. Of course, he is in pretty good shape, so I’ll still be quick. Though before I forget, can you tell him that I won’t be staying at our place for a while, you know, ‘cause of what happened? Plus I’m still getting used to the idea that you guys are together.”
Patrick made his way to my couch while giving my apartment a once over. “Nice place. Certainly better than the craphole you were in before.”
I managed to laugh weakly. I was too nervous to do anything else. Patrick sensed my apprehension and patted the cushion next to him.
