Arius rolled his eyes at Lyle’s hesitation. “Come or do not come. But do not for a moment expect me to stand here while you make up your mind.” He stepped aside and waved Lyle in, and when Lyle did step over the threshold—one paw, two paws, a test of the air with a couple of brief sniffs—Arius released the door.
Lyle scrambled out of the way of the heavy door and snapped his head at Arius with a snarl and a glare that had absolutely no effect on Arius’s smile at all. “Well?” Arius gestured with one arm. “What do you think?”
