“I guess I could walk around the city for a bit,” Lyle said finally. “Though with the fog, I’m not sure we’ll see much—”

“Walk?” Arius chuckled and pulled Lyle closer. “A vampire and a wolf in the midst of nightfall don’t walk.” He smiled wide and the streetlight above them caught the brilliance of his teeth. “They run, Lyle. Run with me.”

Lyle frowned. “You can’t be serious. What would I do with my clothes? What if we’re seen? What if my dad tries to call?”

Arius threw both arms up. “What if we’re dead by tomorrow? What if the world explodes into shards? What if, what why, what how? Come on, wolf! At least allow yourself to experience my world the way fate meant you to. The night is young, but there are too few hours before dawn. Besides…” He spun to the right, plucking at Lyle’s shirt as he moved. “Haven’t you heard the saying that it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission?”
