The thought jumped into Lyle’s mind and he pushed it away. “You can be a real freaky bastard when you want to be, do you know that?”
Arius put his head back and laughed. “Yes,” he said, when only the echo of the laughter remained. “Yes, wolf, I do know that.” He cracked the door, looked at Lyle, and waited for Lyle’s nod that it was clear. They stepped out into the awful yellow light of the underpass and Arius took a deep breath. “Have you considered staying here in DC?”
Lyle huffed a laugh, taking his own deep breaths of cooler, clearer, air. “My father would never allow it.”
