Chapter 35

“And then what happened?” I asked.

“I woke, so I never knew what happened to us.” Tim said it so matter-of-factly, as if his dream was a premonition.

“Are you telling me you have thought about us getting back together?” I asked, though I was trying to keep the shock out of my voice.

Tim took another bite of his food, chewing rather slowly. He swallowed it down, then took a long sip of water. I wasn’t sure why he was trying to create suspense, but Tim was always one to go for the dramatics.

My eyes narrowed. “How could you have gotten in? I took Charlie’s copy of the key.”

Tim started playing with the rest of the food on his plate. “I had a copy made of the copy.”

“Ugh, I really need to get those locks changed.”
