Chapter 19

Molly say sat down at his side. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.”

“Mom keeps telling me I ask questions I shouldn’t and that I need to keep my tongue in check—whatever that means.”

“You get excited is all, nothing wrong with that.”

“Yeah.” A heart beat or two of silence slipped by, then she asked, “so what did he offer?”

“I…” Keston frowned. Good question. Did he say what he wanted of me? His words were vague. “I’m not entirely sure, but I think he wants me to move.”

“Oh,” this simple reply spoken with disappointment. Of course, if he left the city behind for the peace and quiet of Kona Woods and a delightful Scotsman it meant also leaving Molly and putting an end to their gaming tournaments. Sure, they’d be able to play online, but it wouldn’t be quit the same as sitting next to her. And he’d miss all her accomplishments, like when she ran over to tell him about acing a test or some other feat that brought her joy. He’d miss out on babysitting her, too. “You should go.”
