Kicking himself for being an idiot and punching himself for feeling sorry for himself because he was continuing to be sniveling moron, Kaeva collapsed face-first onto the sofa.

Only then did he realize it smelled like Eddie. He tried not to hate how much better that made him feel.

Kaeva woke when he heard the front door open and close. Twilight had fallen beyond the cabin, and the air was right to hear the sound of the surf and gulls. He had a terrible taste in his mouth, and his head throbbed.

The door onto the porch from the house opened, and Kaeva studied Eddie’s bare feet when they stopped next to the sofa. Eddie sighed and sat, moving one of Kaeva’s legs. Kaeva closed his eyes when the touch sent a thrill up his spine that was becoming less about fear and more about desire.

“So you’ve had a busy day,” Eddie said.

Kaeva grunted.
