Chapter 30

He accompanied Lennon down to the pool and watched him swim, admiring how that gorgeous body cut through the water. He’d been allowed to touch that body last night. Last night had been a breath of cold and fresh air in a decade of stifling, swampy misery. It still shouldn’t have happened. Sure, technically Lennon had initiated, by touching Ben’s face.

Ben had started the kissing. He’d known where it would lead, or at least suspected. He should have been stronger. He should have been better. He needed to make sure that he did better from now on. After all, he was going to have to leave again soon.

Wasn’t he?

They ate in uncomfortable silence when they got back upstairs. “I guess you’re going to be staying over at Kaden’s.” Lennon pushed his oatmeal around in its bowl.

“It’s where my stuff is.” Ben shrugged. “He’s technically the agent in charge of this mission, so I guess I’ll stay where he wants me to.”
