“We don’t know they’re not. It’s a direction. And for the record—”

Townsend held up a hand. “You don’t want to exclude the geniuses while we try to track this stuff down.”

“No. I don’t.” Ben rolled his shoulders. “I haven’t survived in the field as long as I have by not using available resources.”

“Did you really kill a terrorist with his own underwear?” Townsend grinned.

“In all fairness, it was the nearest weapon at the time. At least, it was the nearest weapon that wouldn’t make a sound.” Ben ducked his head and blushed.

“Awesome.” Townsend huffed out a laugh. “Listen, though. I won’t hit on Lennon, but you’ve got to keep your hands off him. They will fire you, or worse. You won’t be able to keep him safe if you’ve been sent to Leavenworth, or shot.”

Ben wiped his sweaty hands on his pants. “I know.”

“I’ll say whatever I have to, that it was just to keep him cooperative, but it had better be just to keep him cooperative.”
