Lennon’s face lost all color. “That’s bad news,” he said. “That’s…that’s truly not good.”

“Well, you’re not wrong.” Ben took a sip of his champagne. “We’re working to track him down now. We’re not going to let him get to you.”

Lennon leaned into him, just a little bit. It wasn’t necessarily visible to anyone else, but Lennon’s trust sent a warm flush through Ben’s body. “Okay. Okay, yeah, that’s good. What about Kuznetsova?”

Rada nodded. “It seems to me like if we cut the head off the snake, this Jamal guy will go away. If the checks stop coming, he won’t have any incentive to keep coming for Lennon, right?”

Townsend winced. “Well, it’s not that easy. Kuznetsova is working for someone too. But yeah, anyone they send after him would probably have networks of their own.”

“Awesome.” Lennon gave a manic grin and held up his hands with the thumbs up.

“It gets better.” Ben bit his lip. “Surveillance on Kuznetsova’s import-export business got cut short a couple of days ago.”
