The fact that they were protesting in such a way based on inaccurate information—lies—infuriated him. He decided he didn’t want to know if it angered him more than the way it endangered the employees in the first place. Some people just weren’t meant to know these things about themselves.

He knew there was a possibility that Bannerman, or someone like him, might be lurking in the crowd somewhere. He didn’t care. Ben was with him, and those were all the precautions he was willing to take. At some point protection got to be too restrictive. He’d become a recluse, some kind of weirdo who never left the apartment, and then where would he be? What good would he be to the world?
