Chapter 73

Former director of security.Kaden had come into the organization under false pretenses and as such couldn’t be tolerated as an employee for one minute longer. He was only still there because he was part of the NSA and his resources could prove useful, and because Lennon didn’t feel like fighting two different battles.

He was a peaceful guy. His whole career had been built around peace—around science and knowledge as a cure for war. Sure, he’d designed a bullet, but it was a bullet created with the intention of rendering war as harmless as possible to the living. Why then did he suddenly find himself thinking in terms of battles and strategies and enemies?

He couldn’t make himself like it, love it, or tolerate it. This was something he had to endure to get to his end goal, which was survival and escape. Kind of like those dreadful Victorian Literature classes he’d been forced to sit through in undergrad.
