McGovern eyed Lennon. “Hey, Perig, you mind giving me and Kellogg the room? We need to chat about some super-secret agent stuff—shop talk, you know how it is.”
If Lennon rolled his eyes any harder he’d pull a muscle, but Ben didn’t say anything about it. He nodded, and Lennon headed into the bedroom. He didn’t want any more friction between Lennon and McGovern. It would only further raise suspicion, and they didn’t need that right now.
Besides, if Lennon wanted to hear anything he could just listen in.
McGovern waited until Lennon was out of the room and the door closed. Then he turned to Ben, mouth hard. “Listen. I know you’re a good agent, one of the best we’ve got.”
“Why do I see a ‘But’ at the end of that sentence?” Ben fought to contain his temper. He and McGovern were technically equals. He didn’t need to take any kind of questioning from this guy.
