Chapter 43

“Viruses aren’t cute,” Parker deadpanned. He softened his expression and patted the pillow. “Can you sleep? Or…” He nodded towards the side of the room where John’s personal effects rested. “Maybe I can get you something to help?”

John reached for Parker’s left hand and rested it on his shoulder. He reached for Parker’s right hand and put it on his waist. “This helps.”

Parker only removed his hand to turn off the lamp. Then it was back, pulling their bodies together, and lowering them both to the mattress. 11

John’s cell phone trilled for a second time and he dug his head into the pillow with a growl. One day he’d learn not to leave his phone within earshot while he was sleeping. One day.

He would have ignored the phone and chased sleep again, but for the weight to his left that reminded him that he wasn’t sleeping alone. A pleasant rush of warmth travelled his body, and John smiled at the sensation even as he reached for the nightstand and felt around for his phone.
