“Sorry, Dr. Knight. This is Dr. Samuel Lucas from the Biederman Institute of Meteorological and Oceanographic Studies. Who was supposed to wait in the outer office.” There might not have been a scowl on her face, but there was certainly one in her voice. I was too taken by the hunk of gorgeousness standing before me to pay her any heed.

“Actually, my doctorate is in finance. I deal with public relations and fund raising there. Among other things.” Dr. Lucas grinned, also ignoring my secretary, and extended his hand. “Call me Sam.”

As his fingers closed over mine, I licked my lips and smiled back at him.

“I told him he needed to make an appointment, boss, but—”

“That’s all right, Gwen.” I couldn’t take my eyes off the man standing before me, holding onto my hand. “You wanted to see me? You do know I’m the resident ichthyologist, don’t you?”
