“I’d better find something to treat it.”
I tugged futilely at the cords that bound me. “You’d better untie me first.”
“Oh…Uh, sure. Right.” He fiddled with the knots. “Damn. They’re too tight to undo. Well, I’ll just—”
“There’s a straight razor in my shaving kit, along with some first aid items.” I interrupted. Reaction was setting in, and I couldn’t stop shaking. In addition, my neck was getting stiff from holding it up. I dropped my head to the pillow and tried to use it to mop up the sweat that was dripping into my eyes and over my cheeks. “Thank God my tetanus shot is up-to-date.”
“Aren’t you being a little melodramatic?” He freed my ankles, and I drew my legs together.
“Do you have any idea the amount of germs in the human mouth?”
“Uh…no. My doctorate is in finance, remember?” He came to the head of the bed and started slicing at the cord that secured my right wrist.
“Please don’t cut me,” I murmured, exhaustion beginning to overtake me.
