Ramon shrugged and winced. He glanced down at his abdomen and gave a moan.

Carlos took no notice. “Hmm. So, Arius thinks the specimen will reveal such secrets to him?” He rubbed his hands together. “And Ihave access to that hand.” He turned to Ramon. “You said you overheard this? Is he still in Brazil?”

“No, he called back to United States.”

“Good. Captain, I must use your radio to contact the institute. The last thing we want is for Dr. Perez to get it in his possession.”

I’d never known Carlos to be so vindictive, but then again, if he felt Perez had a hand in drawing his son to evildoings, it only made sense. Although I had the feeling evildoings and Manolo Viejo had a long, close acquaintance.
