“You’re becoming a liability.” Jane circled around him, eyes blazing with mad rage. “Tell me, what should I do with you?”
“I don’t know, miss,” Libs said, eyes downcast. How could he advise anyone when he couldn’t even decide what to do himself?
“You can start by confessing what you’ve done wrong!” Jane spun around to point an accusing finger straight at his face.
“I…”
“You can’t even say it! Pathetic.” Jane turned to lean both hands against her desk, still miraculously intact, despite her anger. Maybe she was saving it all for him.
“I’ll give you one more chance, Liberty, just one more, and after that there will be no more mercy from me.” She didn’t so much as glance in his direction as she spoke, her back rigid under her red jacket. “I suspect that whatever this Ranger’s report is going to be, it will cause more Rangers to come this way. In order to keep him from sending it, we need to sabotage his ship.”
