Regardless, he hid his flinch as he entered the room, feeling a prickling like tiny needles all over as he became viscerally aware of every single flame. They were too far away to hurt him, he had to remember. He forced himself to pay attention, but his instincts screamed in the back of his head, reminding him of his perilous position.

Jane had a little space to herself in the center of the room, and she paced back and forth, waiting for everyone to settle down so she could talk. Libs found himself a nice, dark corner away from the torches and nestled into it to watch the proceedings.

Jane eventually lost patience with her forces milling around like lost sheep. “Silence!”

The whole room quieted immediately, and Libs smiled grimly. She had iron control over her forces, no mistake about it.
