Enzo raised his eyebrows. “Really? That surprises you? Offends you, perhaps? But consider this: perhaps this is technology that is kept from you cadets.”
This was another unpleasant idea for Carl. “Which is true?”
Enzo gave a bark of laughter. “Both.” He recovered himself and regarded Carl thoughtfully. “What would you call that last reading? How would you characterize it?”
“What? Oh. Well, libido energy correlated with the typical archetypal features of the human sexes.”
Enzo nodded. “Good! Not as stupid as you look, are you? Anyway, we call this the Factor-combinatorial Sexuality Measurement.”
Carl said nothing, feeling slightly sick.
“And,” Enzo said with emphasis, “you will agree that the display I’ve traced, is based on the readings taken from you.”
