Sipping his coffee, he raised an eyebrow. “I woulda thought you got enough rest by now.”

She stretched. “Naps don’t count.”

“Oh, right.” He snickered. “I keep forgetting. You could fall asleep anywhere. And eat twice your weight!”

“Mm-hmm.” Ken reached for a second helping of the food and refilled her plate. With a still-growing body and an epic metabolism, she was pretty much always hungry. And even after a real night’s sleep, she could easily take a midday nap whenever the opportunity presented itself, provided there were no more pressing issues to deal with. The eggs, meat, and bread would be filling. A midmorning slumber in the passenger side of Dakota’s beloved car sounded like a great idea.
