Chapter 26

Instinctively, Ken peered out one of the windows. To her surprise, it had snowed during the night. Everything for as far as she could see lay covered in white, and a flurry still seemed to be in progress. She looked at it in wonder. Though she knew the stuff amounted to little more than partially frozen rain, it felt almost magical. Probably the drugs talking.

What time of year was it, anyway?

Early September, she thought. The fact that it snowed in September barely registered. Weird stuff happened all the time.
