Finally, he broke the connection and looked down at Gage’s polished white shoes. “Ken knows about us,” he said quietly. “I don’t know how, but she found out about the talisman, and I had to tell her.”
Gage smoothed back Dakota’s unruly black hair before kissing his forehead. “Maybe it’s better this way. I know you didn’t like not tellin’ her. It’s okay. I don’t mind, if you’re worried.” Another kiss. “I only wish she could be here in person to see us get hitched!”
With a tentative smile, Dakota let his grip fall to the base of his love’s spine. “Thing is, she doesn’t believe you’re real.”
He took a step back, and his expression turned deadly serious. “You told her I was, though, right?”
“Yeah, of course. But she still doesn’t believe it.”
His face softened once more. “She’ll come around. All that matters, is that you know I’m really here. And that I love you, more than anything.”
