“Soon,” she provided. “Let’s figure out what’s going on first.”

“You’re worried?”

“Concerned. This is a big city, at least for the area. They wouldn’t shut down a whole highway if there wasn’t a really important reason.” With a sigh, “It might be a problem that only people like us can solve.”

Yuuki raised an eyebrow. The scars on the far side of her face lifted and stretched with it. They were ugly because of what they meant, that she’d been hurt by strangers. But they also gave her face character—a sort of natural tattooing that only she could possess. “What about your dad?”

“He’s priority number one. But I’m not really ever on vacation. If something is going on here, it’ll have to be dealt with eventually. That’s what we do. If someone is screwing things up, me and my dad, or me and you, or whoever—we fix it. It won’t hurt our arrival time too much to ask, I don’t think. Look, the cars are moving again.” She pointed. “Here we go.”
