The microwave dinged and he pulled out the plate and grabbed a fork before pulling up a bar stool to the island. “Join me?” he asked, gesturing to the stool to his right.

“Sure.”

They sat together, neither looking at the other. Wade wasn’t sure what to say. What was the proper way to initiate conversation with a sister you never knew you had?

“So, this is awkward,” Patricia acknowledged with a small chuckle.

Wade grinned. “Crazy day, right?”

“Crazy few days. Ever since Mr. Matthews contacted me.”

“Lance. He wouldn’t like being called Mr. Matthews by a Dwyer family member.”

She smiled. “Okay. Wow. Family…it’s just so unexpected. I was an only child and always wanted a brother.”

“Now you have three of us,” Wade reminded her with a grin. “Trust me, you’ll be pining for your solitude soon.”
