Minutes later, they made their way downstairs to the kitchen and Wade kissed Lorna on the cheek when he saw her standing at the stove, preparing his favorite banana pancakes.

“Good morning,” she said, smiling and patting his cheek. “Feel like some breakfast?”

“I would eat banana pancakes even if I was too stuffed to move, and you know it.”

“Sounds great,” Lance chimed in, rubbing his belly appreciatively. “Haven’t had them in years.”

“That’s ‘cause you went off to college and stopped spending the nights with your old friend,” Casey shot out, probably only half-joking. “Guess that’s changed, huh? You’ll be here…what?…another three hundred sixty-four nights?”

Lance grinned as he pulled out one of the navy blue tufted dining chairs and joined Casey, Allyson, and Landon around the long planked farm table. “You’ll be tired of me in ten days, Casey.”

Wade doubted that, but kept quiet. As nonchalantly as possible, he ambled to the table and sat next to Lance.
