Chapter 60

Lance glanced at the clock and frowned. Another hour until Wade would arrive.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“Whatever. I know you, Lance. What’s going on?”

Lance started to deny it again, but knew his friend was on to him. “Wade’s meeting me here and we’re walking over to Ruby’s Diner for lunch.”

Ash’s eyes widened. “Oh, my God. Are you falling for your fakehusband?”

Lance pursed his lips as his cheeks heated. “Um, I guess you can’t really say I’m falling for him when I’ve kind of had a crush on him for years.” More than a crush. So much more.

Ash’s jaw dropped. “No shit? Does he know?”

“He knows now.”

“And?”

“And he’s felt the same.”

Ash leaned back in his chair. “I did notsee that coming.”

Lance rose and glanced out the window. Main Street was busy today, a lot of people hurrying by as they shopped for Christmas presents. The temperature had dropped over the last few days, but it wasn’t snowing and the wind seemed to have calmed down.
