Chapter 13

“Nothing, thank you. I’m good.”

“You have to eat.”

“I’m taking care of that after the show,” Christopher said, before Gage could respond. He eased into the space next to him and pushed two twenties across the bar. “Can you send another round of drinks to the group of four tables at the front, please?”

“Sure thing.” Julio pushed the money in his apron and moved to the other side of the bar.

“That’s quite the cheering section you brought,” Gage said.

The tone was cordial, friendly even. It gave Christopher hope he could salvage the younger man’s friendship after all. “That’s what you wanted, so that’s what I got you.”

He glanced over his shoulder at the large party. “Are they liking the show?”

“They’re loving it. Almost as much as I am.” He waited for Gage to shift back to him and smiled. “This was a lot better than listening to an MP3. Thank you for letting me know about it.”
