Chapter 27

“How long have you known Bodie?” Gage asked when the silence became too much for him.

“Um…I guess it’s been about four years now. Ever since Rev picked him up the first time.” He emerged with a white first aid kit and set it on the counter. “He doesn’t like me very much.”

“Really? I thought you two were friends?”

“Well, we are. Kind of.” He rummaged around in the box and pulled out a box of bandages. “We don’t ever spend time together, just the two of us. Somebody else is always there. I don’t know. It’s hard to explain.”

“Would you have rather I not invited him today?” Gage asked, sounding more casual than he felt.

Christopher turned Gage’s arm to expose the long cut, opening the first butterfly bandage. “Not if it means you wouldn’t have come at all.” Carefully, he pulled the edges closer, sealing it with the bandage. “It’s all right. I’m used to him being around. I’m just not used to seeing him with you.”
