“What’s up?” he said, fighting for control.

“I think you better hear this,” Lleyton said. He aimed the remote at the TV, pumping up the volume.

“I’m Jackie Wyman,” an anorexic-looking reporter intoned in a lockjaw style as she stood in lower Manhattan. “Tonight: A tale of greed and corruption at one of New York’s biggest brokerage houses. Is the scandal at Brynner & Sons unique or just the tip of an iceberg about to sink the corporate Titanic? That story and more coming up on Action News.”

“Honestly, corporate iceberg. Talk about your mixed metaphors,” Belle said derisively. “Hey, isn’t that the company you were fired from?”
