“Beauchamp has the hors d’oeuvres set out on the side porch,” I told him.

Mindy’s eyes lit up. “That’s a wonderful idea. It’s such a beautiful, balmy May evening.”

“It is, isn’t it? I think we’ve lucked out this spring.” Geoff offered her his arm.

“I just hope our wedding day will be as lovely.” The expression on her face as she looked at him…Geoff had said she’d had a crush on him forever, but this was the way a woman looked at the man she loved. She linked her arm with his and threaded their fingers together. He led her through the house to the side porch.

“Me, too.” I said. “Um…I mean, my wedding. Of course, I hope you have good weather, too…”

Hyde chuckled. “Come on, blue eyes. There’s an hors d’oeuvre with your name on it.” He leaned closer to me and murmured, “I spoke with Beauchamp earlier. No shellfish, Kipp.”
