“What does it matter to you?” Daniel demanded of his father.

“Hyde Wyndham was mine years ago, and he’s going to be mine again.”

“You…you’re gay? Jesus, Dad, you threw me out of the house because of Auggie, and all this time you’ve been gay?”

Richardson was practically frothing at the mouth, and in spite of the fact his son was standing beside him, he ignored Daniel completely. “You can’t marry him, Hyde. You love me.”

“Aaron, you’re married. And so am I.”

“No, you’re not. The priest hasn’t pronounced you anything yet. And I can get a divorce. I will get a divorce.”

“Aaron, I told you eleven years ago I had no intention of being your dirty little secret. There could never be anything between us.”

Wait, what? “Hyde? Why didn’t you tell me?” I’d thought they hadn’t had any contact since Richardson had been sent to Great Britain.

“I didn’t think it was necessary. I turned him down, and I saw no reason to embarrass him by bringing up old news.”
