Then the beast turned to examine the massive corpse of the rhinoceros animal. The back and head were armoured, but its soft underbelly was fair game, and the cat creature tore into it. The smell was thick and potent. After a while of gorging, the creature seemed to lose interest in the corpse and Yaliana both, and it left.
Yaliana, who hadn’t moved and barely breathed the entire time, let out a whoosh of air. Through some sort of incredible luck, the cat thing had ignored her. She waited another fifteen minutes or so, then went back to work on her armour.
After a lot of effort, and after hearing the screech of metal on metal for hours, she finally accomplished her goal. Her leg was free.
